Here's a brief but inspirational few lines from a Jog Scottie.

Hi

Just to let you know - I joined Jogscotland in January 2011 in the beginners' class at Strathclyde Park, going only on Sundays. I had done no exercise till then. I also started running on my own during the week and only four months' later, I completed the Edinburgh Marathon on May 22nd 2011. It took me 6 and a half hours, but I did it!

I completed the marathon just before my 39th birthday, so it's not too late for anyone. I'm a single mum of three, so it was hard finding the time to train, but I only trained 4 days a week - just over an hour on the weekdays with a longer run/walk on a Sunday. I have attached a photo that my friend took after the finishing line. It was gale force winds on the day, so I look as though I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Completing a marathon was just something I wanted to say I had done, "ticked off my list". At the time, I swore, "never again!", but I've recently started thinking about next year's marathon...

Anyway, I just wanted to say a big "thankyou" to Strathclyde Park JogScotland for teaching me how to run and stretch and for motivating me to get fitter and to share my success story with you.

Best wishes,

Wendy Hesketh
